reach their primary goal of returning to the state playoffs, there were a number of
positive aspects to the season including some great statistical
accomplishments.
The Vikes set several records this season
and led the area or district in other statistical categories.

Sophmore Danzel Williams rushed 177 yards and three touchdowns to lead
Arlington Martin (4-6, 4-2) to a 48-28 District 4-5A victory over
Arlington Lamar (5-5, 2-4) Friday night at Cravens Field. With Mansfield's victory over Arlington, a Lamar victory of any margin would have put the Vikings in the playoffs. Instead, Martin advances to the post-season.

Attention all Viking fans: ARMAGEDDON IS HERE! |

The definition of Armageddon per Encarta is: “A final and decisive war or conflict.”
VIKING FANS, that is where we are right now. We must win by 10 points Friday night vs. Martin to ensure that our season will continue. A victory by that margin means Lamar would earn a playoff spot through a point differential tie-breaker between the Vikes, Warriors and Mansfield Tigers. On the other hand, if Mansfield beats Arlington High, then Lamar can get into the playoffs simply with a victory (margin won't matter).
THE VIKES, WITH YOUR HELP, ARE GOING TO WIN THIS FOOTBALL ARMAGEDDON by the necessary points and guarantee a spot in the playoffs!

Lamar (5-3, 2-2) and Mansfield (4-4, 2-2) enter Friday’s game at R.L. Anderson Stadium in a
three-way tie for the third place in District 4-5A. Neither team can
clinch an outright playoff spot with a win, but a victory would put
either team in great position to secure a postseason spot next week.
Lamar leads the all-time series 9-1, but the past two games have been
decided by a combined eight points. Friday’s contest features the top
two rushers among Class 5A area schools. Lamar’s Ja’Terian Douglas
leads 5A area rushers with 1,710 yards while Mansfield’s Stepfan Taylor
is second with 1,294 yards.

Arlington Bowie remained undefeated in District 4-5A with a convincing
over win over crosstown rival Arlington Lamar. Inadvertent whistles
cost Bowie (6-1, 3-0) two other potential touchdowns. Twice the Bowie
quarterback faked the ball to an inside runner and broke into the open
field apparently heading for a score only to have the play blown dead.
Arlington Lamar (5-3, 2-2) fell victim to their own mistakes. Lamar
lost three fumbles, two of which Bowie coverted into touchdowns, and
also had a 41-yard touchdown run nullified by penalty.
Be sure to check out the updated district standings, watch a replay of the game via pennyentertainment.com, browse the photo gallery and talk about the Vikes on our message board.

Written by Star-Telegram

Lamar leads the all-time series 22-2, but Bowie has won the past two
contests. Lamar (5-2, 2-1 District 4-5A) has won three of its past four
games, including two consecutive district contests, to put itself in
position for a potential playoff berth. The Vikings have the No. 2
offense among Class 5A area teams, averaging 441.7 total yards per
game. They will be tested by Bowie (5-1, 2-0) which has the area’s best
defense among Class 5A area teams, surrendering only 163 total yards
per game. The Volunteers, No. 4 in the Star-Telegram Class 5A area
rankings, have recorded three shutouts this season, the first time that
has happened since 1979. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at UTA's Maverick Stadium.
